Residency Details
Container is excited to partner with B-Form to offer a spatial sound studio residency to a sound artist, musician or sound designer in the UK’s South West who hasn’t had the opportunity to work with the technology before.
The residency will run from the B-Form space in SPARKS (78 Broadmead, Bristol, BS1 3DS) from the 10th – 14th June, with a showcase on the 15th.
The residency provides:
- An artist stipend of £660
- 5 days at the B Form Studio – Featuring a multichannel sound system that can be arranged into Ambisonic, Dolby Atmos and other multichannel speaker layouts + relevant recording, mixing and networking equipment. Open from 10am – 8pm on residency days.
- Training with Nik Rawlings, director of the studio – Providing building induction, studio onboarding, spatial sound training and technical support during the first day of the residency, and a half day elsewhere to provide expertise.
- A showcase of your work at SPARKS, setting up the speaker system to exhibit your work publicly.

About B-Form
B-Form is a new artist-led spatial sound lab in central Bristol that supports the development of immersive and spatial sound and music practices.
Guided by our understanding of spatial sound and music as addressing the relational, personal, perceptual & emotional experience of sound-making and listening; we seek to support artists in their exploration of spatial sound as an expanded approach to composition, rather than novel ‘effect’.
Bristol and the South West has a thriving immersive arts ecology, but artist – level access to immersive sound tools is limited.
From our space at Sparks in Broadmead, we offer an Ambisonic speaker system, affordable recording and production space, training and listening events – and are thrilled to partner with Container Magazine to offer a funded residency from our space
