Phoenix Simms (she/they) is an independent researcher, writer and occasionally a game narrative designer from Atlantic Canada. She acknowledges that she is on the traditional territory of the Wabanaki Confederacy.
Her writing is primarily featured in Unwinnable, where she contributes as a monthly column called Interlinked which explores the way games are not divorced from broader media ecology concerns and are amalgams of analog and technical inspiration. Her writing can also be found on Videodame, Paste, Into the Spine, and Uppercut.
As for her game design, she’s contributed to Handeyesociety’s Evergreen Brick Works Game Jam and Dames Making Games first CritDMG tabletop game jam, which produced the volume of RPG supplements titled “After the Meteor”. She’s slowly working on a personal Twine project, codenamed “The Wraith” about empathy, feminine monstrosity, and cosmic eco gothicism.
